10 A Treasury of Knitting Patterns Barbara G. Walker; Barbara G Walker 0942018168 1998 Amazon US; Barnes & Noble This series is considered the ultimate in stitch dictionaries and I'm always interested in more stitch pattern.
10 A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns Barbara G. Walker; Barbara G Walker 0942018176 1998 Amazon US; Barnes & Noble This series is the ultimate in stitch dictionaries and I'm always interested in new stitch patterns.
10 Charted Knitting Designs: A Third Treasury of Knitting Patterns Barbara G. Walker; Barbara G Walker 0942018184 1998 Amazon US; Barnes & Noble This is the third and supposedly the best executed of the stitch dictionaries by Barbara Walker. This is *very* high on my list of wanted knitting books.
10 In Sheep's Clothing Jane Fournier; Nola Fournier; Susan Strawn; Joe Coca 1931499381 2003 Spinning - Wool Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble This books details the history and proporties of wool from nearly every sheep imaginable. It's a great reference to know how one should go about spinning a fleece or roving, but also allows one to be a more educated shopper when it comes to choosing fleece.
9 Folk Mittens: Techniques and Patterns for Handknitted Mittens Marcia Lewandowski 1883010349 1997 Knitting Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble I've checked this one out from the library a few times now. I've knit one pattern from it and used a few other patterns as inspiration. There are definitely other patterns in there I'm interested in knitting and this book is often checked out so may or may not be available when I'm ready to knit something from it.
9 Color in Spinning Deb Menz 1931499829 2005 Spinning; Spinning - Color Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble Deb Menz is very talented at sharing color theory through the printed word. This book is no exception. It contains a lot of the same info as her more generic book, ColorWorks (which I have), but this one focuses on ways you can blend the fibers to achieve various colors and such. I've checked it out from the library a few times and would definitely appreciate having it at my disposal whenever inspiration should strike.
9 1000 Great Knitting Motifs Luise Roberts 1570762597 2004 Knitting - Design - Stitch Dictionaries Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble Now that I've designed some stranded items I'm in love with this book! I've been borrowning Snow's copy for a while.
7 Spinning Designer Yarns Diane Varney 193149939X 2003 Spinning - Technique Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble I've read this from the library and it is packed with info on how to spin more specialty yarns such as boucles and mohair etc. The directions and examples were very clear and I would love to have it at my disposal when I'm more experienced and ready to spin novelty yarns.
7 The Knitting Experience Sally Melville; Elaine Rowley; Alexis Xenakis 1933064021 2005 Knitting - Design; Knitting - Technique/Reference Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble Amanda B. highly recommended this book to me. She is generally right on when it comes to recommendations related to knitting and spinning for me.
7 Alterknits Leigh Radford; John Rizzo 1584794550 2005 Knitting Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble I keep getting drawn to this one on the shelves at the bookstore, but have yet to succumb to temptation. I'm not sure I would knit any project out of this book, but it is full of unusual ideas in knitting and I think would be pretty inspirational.
7 One Skein Leigh Radford 1931499748 2006 Knitting Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble This one hasn't been released yet, but I love the concept and generally like the designs by the author so I'm pretty sure this one would have a loving home in my knitting library.
6 For the Love of Knitting: A Celebration of the Knitter's Art Voyageur Press; Kari Cornell 0896580458 2004 Knitting Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble Not so much a pattern or a how-to book, this is more of a collection of essays about knitting. My voice instructor got it for her mother for Christmas 2005 and I got to browse it a bit and it seems like the photos and the essays could be quite inspirational. There were lots of vintage reprints in it and neat historical facts etc.
6 Yarn Harlot Stephanie Pearl-McPhee; Stepha Pearl Mcphee 0740750372 2005 Knitting - Essays Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble I love the blog of this knitter and have heard this second book by her is much more like reading her blog. It is a book that you can read just a little and probably laugh your head off with her fun and quirky insight into the life of a knitter.
5 Sensational Knitted Socks Charlene Schurch 1564775704 2005 Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble I haven't gotten to look this one over too much. I doubt I would use any of the patterns out right, but I believe there are some additional heel/toe techniques that are not otherwise present in my current library. But since I have no fear of figuring out how to incorporate various stitch patterns into socks I'm not positive how much I'll benefit from this book. But, I'm very intriqued by it...
5 Knitting Over The Edge: Unique Ribs, Cords, Appliques, Color, Eclectic - The Second Essential Collection of Decorative Borders Nicky Epstein; Epstein Nicky 1931543755 2005 Amazon US; Powell's; Barnes & Noble I have the first version of this book. I want this one due to the sense of "completion" but in a quick flip throught at B&N I wasn't sure if I would use any of the techniques as many seem rather fiddly. That said, one day I can flip through a stitch dictionary and have certain designs jump out at me and another time totally different designs will jump out.
