Some Advance Planning for my Reading

Old pic of books I read in 2008. Sorry, the Kindle is only so photogenic.
While I’ve hit my 62 book goal for going on 5 or 6 years I believe I am wanting to be a tad more systematic this year. I have no doubt I’ll stray from plans as new titles cross my path and what not. Though with my rapid accumulation of Kindle books thanks to the freebies and occasional daily deal of interest I often forget what I have and what I’m truly excited to read. Add to that the fact that I have signed up with NetGalley and will need to make sure I read the gallies and review them in a timely fashion I’m wanting to take a bit of time each month to rough out my reading.
I’d like to be closer to this year’s 80 book goal and the 62 book goal requires a book finished every ~5.5 days so I’m going to choose 6-7 books each month along with 2-3 alternates in case a book doesn’t click for me or a library hold doesn’t come through on time and other unforeseen reasons one of the chosen might be tossed aside. Reading is primarily for enjoyment and relaxation so I’ll aim 5 fiction titles and 2 non-fiction titles. I suspect at least 1 non-fiction title to be cooking of food related.
So, with those in mind, here is my plan for January…

- Dead Over Heels by Charlaine Harris, Thorndike Press, contemporary cozy. Audiobook on Nano.
I’ve also started keeping a master list of books I want to read that I have on Kindle already so I don’t loose track of them so easily. I have for some time kept a list of books I want to look for in the bookstores, so between the two I think that will prove helpful for future planning.
How about you? What are you reading now or hope to read soon?
Don’t worry I don’t expect anyone else to get quite so over the top in planning their reading. Who knows, I may throw this out the window in a couple months :-O But I’ll see how it goes. It might be nice to not have to wade through the Kindle archives every time I finish a book.
