FO Friday!

Filed under: Knotty, Rollin' the Dice, Socks, Färdig (FOs) — Kristi at 8:00 am on Friday, May 5, 2006

Pattern: My Own
Yarn: 1/2 Skein KnitPicks Color Your Own, Hand Dyed w/ 6 Packet Lemonade and 3/4 packet Orange Kool-Aid
Needles: US 1, Addi Turbos (2)
Direction: Top Down
Process Dates: April 10thish - May 1st
Recipient: Me

Notes: I really like these anklets. They are super cute and definitely make me smile when I wear them or look at them. I adore the eye of partridge stitch on the heel and toe. The picot top gives them a bit of an unusual flair that I think makes them a tad whimsical and fun without being over the top (unlike the next pair I’m designing). I did have barely any yarn left over though so one would need more than half of skein if you need more than 64 sts and more length than a 9.5 shoe size. You might squeek by with a 10, but if you have bigger feet than that and only want to use a half skein You probably want to forego the picot edge.
I haven’t given these the in the shoe test yet. I promised a few that I’d report back as to whether my shoe eats the sock as can happen with these small anklets, but the opportunity to put them to the test hasn’t arrived just yet. But I will keep you up to date on whether there are less problems with handknit anklets. I know my store bought socks twirl around on my feet a lot and I end up with the heel on the top etc. and that does not happen with my store bought socks so I have high hopes for these anklets :-)

I did not forget the contest from last week. I think I rarely used a category name outright, but your wonderful ideas certainly jump started my brain in writing the categories so I tossed everyone’s names into the perverbial hat and the following five win a copy of one of my patterns.

You gals can choose any of my patterns and either leave a comment here with your selection or e-mail me (fiberfool at gmail) with your choice and I’ll e-mail you the PDF file. I’m unsure of how much computer time I will have following water aerobics this morning and before the in-laws arrive so you might not get your patterns until Monday, but I’ll try to get them to you sooner.

I’ll leave you with a few more views of those sunshine anklets as they look to be the only sun around here yet *again*. Okay, I shouldn’t be complaining as we need the moisture terribly, but I’ve been spoiled by the sunny days here and having several gray and rainy days has gotten me down…

Have a great weekend everyone!

I’m getting very tired of the cloudy dampness, too. I know. We’re spoiled.

Great job on the anklets.

Oooo, I like them! What a great way to use smaller balls of sock yarn. They might be cute if you use up odd balls, too!

Oh - I won! I never win! Actually, I’ve started winning more stuff since I actually started entering competitions :)
I’d love the Dimple sock pattern, please.

I wanted to ask; was the Kool Aid yarn sticky when you were knitting with it? I made some socks out of Kool Aid dyed yarn and I’ve a feeling I didn’t rinse it!

Thank you!

Cute! I keep looking at my leftover sock yarn and pondering whether I should go for anklets, or make a patchwork thing with tiny tiny yarn. Jury is still out - but I think at least one pair of anklets might happen.

[…] In preparation for April Project Spectrum I dyed up a half-skein (don’t ask about the other half, okay?) of KnitPicks with 6 packets of lemonade and then a sprinkling of 3/4 of a package of orange Kool Aid at the end of March. The final results are these fun sunshine anklets. More details on my blog at http://blog.designedlykristi.com/?p=23 or more pics in my FO gallery. […]

Oh yay!

And what a total surprise, since I just noticed that when I added your new blog to Bloglines, it didn’t take. I was sitting here thinking, “Gosh, Kristi hasn’t updated in days…that’s weird.” Heh. Stupid Bloglines.

I’ll take the Dimple Socks, please. :)

The anklets are totally cute, by the way.

Awesome socks. I’ll have to try some anklets w/ a picot hem - very cute. I can’t believe I won. I never win anything. I’ve been admiring the Dimple Sock pattern for awhile now and I’d love to have it. Thank you so much.

Great anklets! (I did get around to making chocolate chip cookies today. I’m so glad I did.)

Oh, I love the anklets, not only because they are gorgeous and sunny, but also because I am still tickled by the idea of Kool-Aid as a dyeing agent. :)

Incidentally, I’ve been very slow to acknowledge all of the nice comments I have received on Yonder Silly Pink & Yellow Page, but I’ve been meaning to tell you that your comment about my shawl made my week. Coming from you, that’s high praise indeed. Thank you, m’dear.

Oh, fun!! This will complete my Kristi Sock Collection. :) Heatwave Socks, please!! And thank you!

Those anklets are really cute - I particularly like the EoP toe detail. I bet that makes for one sturdy toe.
