Help Needed!
No, I’m not hiring. You have no idea how much I wish I could afford to hire a few of you talented knitters. No idea!
Anyway, there are tons and tons of fabulous blogs out there with great ideas and creative solutions for problems. Sadly, there are not enough hours in the day to read them all and I’m sure I’ve missed a good many great blogs that may have a solution to my problem.
See the photo at the top? That is the current state of 95% of my necklaces (plus some non-necklace things that snuck in there). It is a flipping mess! If I want a specific necklace that I haven’t worn recently there is a high probability that it or some other necklace will land on the floor behind the one tiny dresser in our bedroom that sits just below this organizer.
This organizer will always be a part of my jewelry organization as my grandpa Schueler made it. It is an OKS Original. It has the woodburned stamp to prove it. He made most of them when I was still quite young. It was probably really designed more for a young girl’s collection of necklaces rather than a woman’s. And, seeing as how grandpa never wore necklaces himself (though he did later develop a fondness for Easter hats), it is not the perfect solution anymore. A large number of my necklaces are much too long for it.
It is in need of a bit of culling and the removal of non-necklace items, but that won’t solve my problem — only lessen it slightly.
So, I’m asking you, how do you store your necklaces? Especially long ones? What is the most creative DIY jewelry organization you’ve seen? I could definitely use a bit of help with bracelets as well. My ears are too sensitive to have many earrings so those aren’t an issue. Bonus points for organization that can be hung on a wall (we have little furniture space besides the bed and a single nightstand so drawer organizers or things to put on top of a dresser won’t work here).
Then, one more question - anyone have a favorite source for containers for lip gloss and chapstick? Ever since I got EcoBeauty I’ve been wanting to try the various chapsticks and lip gloss recipes, but I have no containers for them. Then last week, Rhythm of the Home had a post about making it on their blog and it reignited my excitement to give this a try.
I do not plan to sell them or even give them as gifts so I’d rather not have to buy 25, 50 or 100 containers at a shot. 5-10 containers is probably ideal. If you know of a reputable place to order either little pots or tubes for lip balm, please share!
Earlier in the week I know there was a third question I was wanting to ask but it has since slipped my mind. Oh well, another week it will be here I’m sure.
