10 on Tuesday: 10 Dream Vacations

Filed under: 10 on Tuesday — Kristi at 5:37 am on Tuesday, November 9, 2010

1. My number one pick right now? Where the photo above was taken. Which probably will be looking a lot more like the pic below very soon - the farm in Minnesota. It’s been nearly a year since my last visit and I almost ache with desire to be back there again, but I’ve not been able to find a time that works with everyone’s schedule (mostly mine). And, as much as I miss it, I’m not horribly thriled with the thought of an early January visit again this year either. We experienced record breaking lows and there were many days with highs not over 0 degrees. After ten years in Colorado and my chronic pain I’m just not horribly cut out for that. Don’t get me wrong, Dad coddled me and always picked me up with a warm vehicle and I was spoiled, but it still wasn’t as pleasant as say my Memorial Day trip a couple years ago.

2. Now I know this one is going to shock you - Sweden! Oh how I long to go to Sweden. I think being there for Midsummer would be an experience of a lifetime (even though with each passing year I deal with crowds less well).

3. Since I was a girl obsessed with the Anne of Green Gables books and movies I’ve always wanted to go to Prince Edward Island. It would be especially fun as a girls vacation with my cousin and my sister. But I’ll take DH too if he wants to come along. I mean someone needs to carry our camera gear, right? ;-) Just kidding Drew!

4. While I’m talking Canada, I’ve also wanted to go to Victoria, British Columbia and Vancouver too.

5. I really haven’t traveled much so I’d also love to go to New England in the fall. It would be especially awesome to time it to go to Rhinebeck and meet some of you guys in person!

6. I’d also love to go to the Pacific Northwest - Seattle, Portland, San Fransisco…

7. An Alaskan cruise has been of interest to me for a while now too.

8. Australia and New Zealand would be pretty high on my list.

9. Then there is of course Italy, Spain and France which would be culinary delights to visit.

10. I think I’d also really enjoy the Carribean.

In reality I think I’d enjoy going nearly anywhere as long as it were with Drew or my sister and involved taking my camera along.

I hope you can find a time to visit the farm that works for you. I know how you miss it when you don’t get to go. And your last statement is the true secret to enjoying life - being happy where you are and with the people you are with!

Hey - with the right plan you could pick off 4, 6, and 7 all in one go - maybe after The Sock Summit??

Great list. You’re so right about trips being best with those that you love.

Oh i’ve sooo longed to go to Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia (my grandmother was from there). Apparently the authoress of Anne of Green GAbles also wrote a series called Emily of New Moon, I just found the DVD’s on Netflix, so I’m watching through them. No where near as good as Anne of green Gables though.

I love this post, it just took me away for a few minutes and made me sit for a while and dream of the places I long to visit.

Now that’s a great list! I share a few with you — Victoria, PEI, Alaska, Rhinebeck, Seattle, and San Fran.

I spent Midsummer in Norway a number of years ago, and it was amazing. We went boating on a fjord in the evening, packed a picnic, and had the most marvelous time. So beautiful, and it’s surreal to have the sun just barely set.

I hope you make it back to MN sometime soon, before the snow flies. It has actually been lovely in MN recently — highs in the 60s.

I would love to visit New England and anywhere in Europe. Oh Alaska! So many things to see… I’ve lived here my whole life and haven’t even touched the surface. Great list!

Me thinks you’ve listed a bit more than 10 places:) Good old PEI is among my dream vacations to go as well. I’d love to see where Lucy Maud grew up and was inspired to write about Anne of GG and Emily of NM.

There were only a few places I wanted to visit until I began reading 1000 Place to See Before You Die now I have a list of places I want to see.

Minnesota has always been on the top of my list but not during snow season lol I am not a big fan of snow.

Now here’s a list that resonates with me. I love PEI, and Minnesota, and Sweden, too. I have relatives still in Sweden, but would need a translator to go along. PEI and the Maritimes in June is paradise, honest.
