10 on Tuesday: 10 Things to Bring Camping

Filed under: 10 on Tuesday — Kristi at 9:23 am on Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Well, it has been close to a decade since I last went camping and I haven’t camped all that frequently. But here we go…

1. Guitar, lyric and chord sheets for campfire singing.
2. A couple decks of playing cards.
3. A book.
4. Plenty of water.
5. The campfire pocket sandwich maker, bread and some pie filling for fun dessert.
6. S’more fixings of course!
7. First aid kit.
8. Tarp and some line to string it up for shade and/or rain protection.
9. Camera and spare batteries.
10 Your knitting of course! I’m kind of partial to socks as travel projects.

My first rule is “get a motel room.”

lol at Chris! You can’t appreciate a good hotel room until you’ve had bad camping! :D

I’m with Chris. Indoor plumbing and wi-fi rock.

Sounds great! I love those campfire pocket sandwich makers — we always call the “Tonkas.” Maybe that’s a brand name?

I always bring my stovetop espresso maker for making coffee on the camp stove. High maintenance, I know, but it makes the mornings so much nicer!

I love camping. We haven’t been in such a long time, that we’re seriously considering pitching our tent in the back yard.

I was getting scared that you weren’t going to bring your knitting…phew, #10.

Great list! I’m not a camper, so can you tell us more about that dessert? Is there a make-believe you’re camping version that you could grill at home?

Great list Kristi. I can’t believe I forgot to list my knitting. Of course I’d bring that along.
