Queen of Cups
This tarot card is a digital collage composed of a NASA image from GIMP-Saavy and a digital photo taken by Kristi of a friend. The Queen of Cups traditionally represent intuition, psychic abilities, wisdom, spiritual, loving and caring. So, I chose this particular sunset image because of the tiny silhouette of a couple on the dock in the water, feeling that they represented the element of love which is present in the traditional Raider-Waite in the form of cherubs on the Queen's throne. I also chose a sunset image because I find it to be a time of great thinking and reflection - a form of meditation which is a practice I would expect a woman who embodies the characteristics of the Queen of Cups to do. This is the same reason I chose the image for the Queen - she appears to be in a meditative state and the light of the sunset appears to radiate from her cup. The cup is also the sign of water so I wished to have water play a large role in the imagery on this card.
