Treat yourself or someone you love to some cool and colorful lace socks!!

Inspired by unseasonably warm temperatures in May and some wonderfully vibrant Cascade Fixation yarn received as a birthday gift, Heatwave socks were born. Made from stretchy and breathable cotton-elastic yarn, Heatwave socks have a fun wave-like lace pattern that makes them comfortable and fun to wear even on the hottest days.

These socks feature a slip stitch heel flap with gusset and a wedge toe construction. But, you may substitute your favorite heel and toe with relative ease. Unlike many sock patterns, this pattern is presented with several sizes of the easy wave lace pattern so you can find your preferred gauge, your ankle circumference and then choose the appropriate number of cast-on stitches and the appropriate width of the lace panels. Numbers provided should work for ankle circumferences from about 5 inches to 10 inches using Fixation or Elann Esprit. Because of the format and flexibility of this pattern, it should be usable with many other sock or sport weight yarns of various fibers as well. Just follow any notes for adjusting the pattern to your fiber content.

As an added bonus, also included is a nifty, full-color sock wrapper to package the socks for gift giving that may be customized after printing.

• Skill Level: Intermediate
• Sizes: 32, 40, 48, 60, 64, 72, 80 sts to fit 5-10 inch ankles in most sock or sport weight gagues
• Yarn Requirements: 2 Balls Cascade Fixation (9442) for average adult size with 3 inch cuff at 6 st sts/in gauge Sport Weight, 98.3% Cotton, 1.7% Elastic, 186 yds (stretched)/100 yds (relaxed) per 50 g
• Needles: Preferred Size for Fixation or the yarn of your choice in a set of 5 DPNs (US 2 - US 4 recommended for most knitters)

This pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters who have prior experience knitting socks and lace. You should know how to knit in the round, yo, ssk, k2tog, psso, sl 1, pick up stitches. Lace pattern is presented both written out and in chart format. The pattern is written for knitting on a set of 5 DPNs, but could be adjusted to either the 2 Circulars or Magic Loop techniques.
