Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I download my purchased products?
A: All downloads are handled through Ravelry, a great web site for knitters. Once your PayPal payment has cleared they will send an e-mail to the address you provided upon check out at PayPal that contains a link to the location where you may download the downloadable product(s). These links do expire, so please download the file(s) as soon as possible.
Q: I’m not a member of Ravelry. Can I still get your patterns in downloadable format?
A: Yes! Being a member of Ravelry is not required to receive the download link or to be able to download the PDF file. If you are a member of Ravelry they will store your PDF file for you in your library so should you change computers, get a virus, or have a hard drive crash you can re-download the pattern at any time.
Q: I purchased downloadable products from you and have not received an e-mail with my download link yet?
A: There are a number of causes that could be preventing you from receiving your download e-mail.
- Some forms of PayPal payment take a few days to clear. Log into your PayPal account to make sure your payment has cleared.
- If your payment has cleared, check any spam blockers you have to be sure the message wasn’t mistakenly flagged as spam. The e-mail message will be coming from downloads AT ravelry DOT com.
- Sometimes e-mail delivery can be slowed due to an active virus on the computer of someone using the same ISP or there may be an active DOS on your ISP’s servers. If none of the above items were the cause of these problems, please wait 24 hours to ensure that your ISP has worked through any backlog of e-mails and then contact me (either at patterns AT designedlykristi DOT com or kurki15 AT yahoo DOT com) and I will forward you the e-mail or contact Ravelry about the problem if I also did not receive the e-mail.
- If you are already a member of Ravelry you can log on and check for a receipt on your purchases page at http://www.ravelry.com/people/username/purchases (replace “username” with your Ravelry username).
Q: Why am I asked for my address when the products are download only?
A: As a business I am required by law to report my sales to my city, county, and state. A downloadable product, while downloadable is still a sale of goods rather than services so any sales of downloadable products in the state of Colorado must be charged sales tax and I must report those sales to my various authorities.
E-mail addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses collected on this site are never distributed or shared in any way. They may be used to contact you if there is a problem with your order, but you will not receive uninvited solicitations from Designedly, Kristi.
Q: I do not like downloadable patterns. Can I get a print version of a Designedly, Kristi pattern?
A: Yes! Please see the list of retailers to find a retailer near you or an online retailer of Designedly, Kristi knitting patterns.
Q: I have downloaded my pattern(s) but some of the text is blocked by graphics. How do I view the full pattern text?
A: This problem seems to be isolated to Mac users and occurs when the PDF file is opened automatically with the Preview application which doesn’t always render the waterwark correctly. To remedy this, right click on the download link and choose “Save Link As…” to save the file to your hard drive. Then open the latest version of Acrobat Reader and use Reader to open the PDF file. The pattern should be fully viewable and printable.
If you are a Windows user and having a similar issue the same steps should apply. Most PDF viewing/printing problems occur when the web browser views the PDF inline.
