History and Philosophy of Designedly, Kristi

Designedly, Kristi has been around since early 2002. While it has always been rooted in creativity and handcrafts it was not always a knitting pattern company. Designedly, Kristi was first started as an on-line school for personal development classes in a variety of creative endeavors including bookbinding, mixed media collage, altered books and printmaking. In the spring of 2005 the first downloadable sock pattern was released for purchase, Spearfish Socks, and slowly designing and selling self-published knitting patterns became the focus of the company.

In late 2006 Kristi started shopping select patterns to a variety of publications. 2007 and 2008 have found three patterns and some articles in Spin-Off Magazine. In 2009 many more patterns by Kristi will be appearing in a variety of books. To see more press about Kristi and Designedly, Kristi check out the press page.

At Designedly, Kristi community is important. As a means of showing support for the global community 10% of all pattern sales are donated to a variety of charities. In addition, a special fund raising pattern, Guided By Love Socks, has also been released with 100% of the net profits going to Seeing Eye, Inc. of Morristown, NJ, the first school in the US to provide visual impaired persons with a dog guide. They are non-profit organization running solely through private donations and gifts from foundations.
