Sockapalooza Soars… Or Not

Well, I finally completed the heel flap, turn and gusset. I’m like two rows beyond the end of the gusset so I’m not offended that you couldn’t tell, LOL! Work has been really crazy so I haven’t had a lot of time to knit this week. But, I’m hoping this weekend will bring me a fair amount of knitting. Tonight we’re watching The Hebrew Hammer with our friend and I suspect that is a movie that I can knit through
Now, you may be asking yourself why there is a Handspring in my photo? Well, that is because I now appreciate the genius of CountAble. It allows me to have upto 4 different counters for one project. This makes it a blast for me to keep track of what row of the two different stitch patterns I used I was in, as well as total rows for each section and number of pattern repeats. It also has a note section where I put the stitch patterns for easy reference. As much as I like the look of this waterfall pattern, the middle three rows of the 6 row pattern are too similar, but different for me to remember them. And, despite my worries about it wearing down my batteries, it really hasn’t. I’ve been using it for over a week and I still have over half my charge. But, I don’t know why I was so worried since my model is a rechargable variety and doesn’t eat batteries like DH’s. I’ll definitely be registering this app! The jury is still out on KnitAble yet. If you have any glowing uses/stories about KnitAble I’d love to hear them.

Here you can see how I’m carrying half of the lace panel down along each edge of the foot.
Now, for something non-knitting related… I was tagged by Deborah whom I know form an artists group, but had never visited her blog. It’s a good thing she e-mailed me to let me know of I probably would have never known! I’m not normally real big on non-knitting content on here, but in the interest of feeding my SP as much info about me as possible, I’ll play the music meme . . .
- Total Amount of Music on your computer?
Well, physically on my computer we’re talking only a measly 259 Kb. That said, we are very slowly ripping our combinded CD collection of over 1000 CDs and most of that is sitting on a computer that is more or less a file server for our multi-media files. Though to get any decent number of songs onto my iRiver MP3 player I have to copy them to my computer, downgrade their quality from what we usually rip at. So, that is why there are some files on my computer, but not many. On the main media server we’re talking roughly, 13 Gb. Much of that is skewed in favor of DH’s music as he has a hard disk recorder/MP3 player that he takes to work and he has an MP3 CD player in his car for the commute so he has much less access to the CDs than I do so having his music digitized is a bigger benefit for him.
- The last CD you bought?
I think the last one I bought was the latest Alison Kraus + Union Station, Lonely Runs Both Ways. Between Christmas and now I’ve also picked up Bruce Hornsby’s Halcyon Days, and Sister Hazel’s Lift. I tend to save up CD purchases and then splurge a bit. Partially this last one was because I didn’t get a single CD for Christmas that had been on my wishlist. So, I had saved up from Nov 1 through Christmas. Though, I don’t really buy more than a dozen new CDs a year probably.
- What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?
Daughters by John Mayer. I’m actually listening to Alice 105.9 out of Denver and that was the last one that played. I do own that CD though and it is even ripped. I much prefer to listen to KBCO 97.3 if I’m going to listen to the radio, but I can’t pull it in very good here at the house. Stupid Sunny 97.9 is too close and overpowers KBCO’s signal. It’s not that I don’t like the music on Alice, it is more a factor of their 2-hour music repeat. I’ve only been up roughly 2 hours and that was the second time I had heard Daughters this morning!
- Write 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you?
- Torn by Natalie Imbruglia - I don’t actually own this one even, but it was popular at a time in my life when “I’m cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor” was something I could relate to more than I ever wanted to. That same event sparked this art piece I made this last summer.
- Light My Candle from Rent - my sister, mom, and my mom’s cousin went to see Rent one year around Thanksgiving. It was our “family” gift for that holiday season. I had driven down from Grand Forks and met them in St. Cloud and then we all headed to The Ordway in St. Paul. My sister and I *loved* it and were Rent obsessed. Then, that Christmas we were at the candlenight Christmas Eve service and my candleholder cup thingie had prongs broke off of it and wax dripped onto my finger. I showed my sister and we just about peed our pants trying to keep from laughing out loud. Dad gave us a really nasty look. If you don’t get it, listen to the song, it’ll be perfectly clear!
- Bizarre Love Triangle as performed by Frente!, though I believe is was originally done by New Order - this was one of the first songs our “band” Sources Close to the President was working on a cover for that I actually kind of liked. DH and John were big into music I had never heard before. But, whenever I hear it now, either version really, it takes me back to that summer when the three of us played music endlessly in that tiny little house.
- Dolphins by Shellyan Orphan - this was one of the first albums DH (then a maybe sorta BF) ever recommended to me and that song just really struck me and is what I like to listen to over and over when I’m feeling down.
- There is another one that I’m completely blanking on. I can’t even think of any of the lyrics at the moment. But, one summer my sister and friend of hers drove up to Grand Forks and spent a long weekend with me. We went over into MN and tubed down a river and sang that song incessantly. Whenever I think of it, I think of my sister and fun we’ve finally been able to have once we were no longer living under the same rood, LOL! I’ll figure it out, but my sister isn’t on Y!IM! at the moment so that I can figure it out. What’s funny is that not that long ago we sat on instant messanger trying to figure it out so I could request it for the Select-A-Set lunch on KBCO. I really need to write that down when we figure it out again. Someplace where I can easily locate it again! LOL!
That’s a tough one, I think most of the blog I read have already been tagged, so just go read my blog roll over on the right there.
Okay anyone going to tag me for the movie one now???
