If you’ve had your fill of goodies and tea, please feel free to hang out and knit in the living room. I can light the fireplace if anyone is interested…
I do have a little party favor for those in attendance…

The much asked for Nifty iPod Nano Necklace pattern has been written up and added to the free knitting patterns section of my web site. So, those who are giving Nano’s this year for Christmas may knit necklace cozies to go with them. Or, knit one for yourself if you have a Nano. While the directions only contain info for fitting the Nano, a little experimentation and/or math should allow you to adjust the pattern to fit any of the iPods or other personal MP3 players of your choice. The Nano sized one takes less than 50 yds of sock yarn and only day of dedicated knitting of a weekend of sporadic knitting.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season. Tomorrow we will return to the regularly scheduled fibery news.
EDIT: This was quite late in being posted because the diesel wouldn’t start this morning because of the cold so I had to take DH to work. There were some network troubles getting me on the Internet this time around. Also, I still can’t always answer e-mails do to these troubles, so I apologize. It should be warm enough and he won’t be leaving before 7am for a dental appointment so I should be home and have full e-mail access so I’ll reply then. I’m sorry for any inconvenience.

I finished this stocking in the eleventh hour last year for the holidays. I then had to write up the pattern, so it wasn’t posted until December 28th. Now that there are many holiday events in the wings and people are greasing up their needles for the holiday knitting marathon, I thought I might remind you of this free pattern available.
It’s relatively simple, with a bit of lace knit, then stitches picked up and knit for the body of the stocking. I chose to step out of the usual holiday colors and use my two favorite colors instead since I had never had a stocking that I picked out myself before. But, even though it is called a non-traditional stocking, it can be as traditional as you wish it to be depending upon the colors you choose to use.
The pattern (along with a quick and easy lace scarf pattern and soon to be joined by the nano cozy) is available at http://designedlykristi.com/freebies/knittingpatterns/index.html
If you wish to link to the pattern, please link to that page and not the PDF file. If you do link to the PDF file you will find it broken at some point as I periodically go in and change the location to prevent bandwidth theft. Thank you!
Oh, also, if you’ve made this stocking or end up making this stocking, please send me a photo or point me to your blog! I’d love to put up a gallery of knits of *any* of my patterns. See the e-mail link in the upper right.
Still sick, no knitting or spinning, hence the semi-historical post today…

I know it’s late for this year and extremely early for next year’s holiday season, but I completed the pattern for my non-traditional Christmas Stocking. Of course, you could make it more traditional by choosing different colors :-) This is a bit more advanced than my other pattern. You need to know how to pick up stitches, yarn-over, purl, knit wrapped short rows, SSK, and K2tog. This stocking requires 5 balls of Berroco Softwist, 3 for MC and 2 for AC.

Please reply here as well if you knit the stocking and have pics on your blog! I’d love to see everyone’s stockings!

I finally got a pattern put together for my Lavish Scarf. This is the scarf that uses 1 ball of Trendsetter Dune and 7 yds of Hanah Silk. This pattern is a great introduction to openwork knitting. I wouldn’t quite call it lace :-) It’s appropriate for anyone who knows how to knit, yarn over and knit two together.

Please feel free to drop a comment here if you’ve made this scarf and have it posted on your blog!
