Stash Enhancement II & FO’s Too!

11/5/2004

First, the FOs…

Super Sekrit Project
This is a Super Sekrit project for my SP3 recipient. I’ll post a more thorough image of it once my identity has been revealer to him/her…

Dad's first pine sock.
This is the sock I was working on for my dad. It’s a beaded rib and had been started on a single 47″ circular needle, but I didn’t like all that cable hanging out so I switched to DPNs. This sock crawled until I moved to the DPNs and then it almost flew off the needles. I will give the single ciruclar a try again at some point with a 40″ instead of a 47″ and perhaps I’ll be converted. We’ll have to see. I still have the second sock to complete so this isn’t *quite* an FO I suppose.

Stash Expansion II

Tuesday Knitting was in Loveland at Woolen Treasures this week. I couldn’t help but spend some $$ there since I hadn’t been in there in about 6 weeks and the last time I had been there I hadn’t spent any money. She hadn’t changed her monthly special yet, so all Fiesta Yarns were 15% off. So, I bought this…

Fiesta Yarn's Heaven bought at Woolen Treasures in Loveland.
The color isn’t great. Hopefully I’ll be able to capture it a bit better when I wind it into balls or at least for the finished object. I picked this up to make a lacy scarf for my grandmother. I haven’t chosen a pattern yet though. I’m not sure if I’ll pick a commercial pattern or if I’ll just pull out my stitch pattern books and have at it myself. We’ll have to see. Her birthday is in February so I think it’ll be a late-Christmas/birthday present. She doesn’t usually want us to “waste” our money on gifts for them. But, even though I never though of her as a sentimental person or one to brag she carried my handmade wedding invitation in her purse to show to all her friends and has done so with other cards I’ve sent. And, since she used to knit (though didn’t do any lacework) I know she’ll appreciate the cost of the yarn and the time that went into making it for her.

That evening DH wanted to check out some music at B&N and I was gracious enough to buy this for me…
Scarf Style Book
It is Scarf Style by Pam Allen. I bought it mostly because I wanted to make the corkscrew scarf that is in there. However, there are several others I really like and may just have to make at some point. I don’t know what I’ll do with a hundred scarves, but they are fun! :-)

I’m off to wind my yarn into balls and I’ll be back tomorrow with some very unusual knitting pics to share…
