I finished these socks over the weekend. I *really* like them. I’m glad I extended the pattern down onto the heel flap to make them clog socks. I did hit a few troubles with the stitch pattern. Mostly because socks are my more or less no-brainer project that I take when I go socialize or when I watch TV or movies and this pattern required a bit more attention than the previous socks I’ve made. But I enjoyed it overall and will definitely be doing the occassional thinking sock pattern I think.

Just another view of them from the front.

I cast on at SnB last night to do a pair with the leftovers from this color and the pine of my dad’s socks for DH. I’m doing a variation on the Welsh Country Stockings. That will be my first (allbeit short) foray into fair isle knitting! But, I think DH will like it. I still have to decide completely on the small fair isle motif I’m going to use. I could go for the pattern in the book, but then it wouldn’t be my pattern :-) I’m thinking possibly X’s and O’s since they are for DH, but then again, the combination of green and purple AND XOs might not be quite manly enough, LOL! I’m open to small (multiple of 3, 6 or 9 stchs and 3-5 rows) fair isle patterns to put around the leg.

  1. Fab socks. I’m working on the Retro and they’re my first pattern from Interweave. So I’m looking forward to finishing them and seeing on my feeties.
