Wear a reminder of your favorite four legged friend with these fun socks sprinkled with paw prints.

You asked for it, and here it is! A traditionally constructed sock pattern featuring the paw prints from Guided By Love.

The Pyewacket sock pattern uses a traditional heel flap and gusset with a wedge toe. The heel flap uses the more subtle reinforcing stitch of Eye of Partridge. Included are 4 different stitch counts and 5 different gauges ranging from 7 to 9 sts/in so you are sure to find your best fit with any sock yarn.

The lace pattern is easily memorized and balanced with plenty of stockinette stitch to maintain warmth and ease the knitting process.

  • Skill Level: Intermediate
  • Sizes: 4 sizes and 5 gauges to fit a large range of sizes; note that the double eyelest of the paw print can catch small toes, so while there is a gauge and stitch count that yield children socks it is not recommended.
  • Yarn Requirements: Any fingering weight sock yarn. Shown here is Handmaiden’s Casbah Sock; 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon; 325m/100gm
  • Needles: Set of Five 2.5 mm DPNs, or size needed to obtain a gauge of 7-9 sts/in with desired fabric hand
  • Other Notions: Stitch marker and tapestry needle

This pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters who have prior experience knitting socks. You should know how to knit in the round, purl, ssk, k2tog, sl 1, yo, and pick up stitches. The pattern is written for 5 DPNs, but it could be adjusted to the Magic Loop or Two Circulars for those already familiar with those techniques.
