Indecision 2006

I’ve been stuck here for at least five days. I have the toes complete and it is time to decide how I want to proceed with my knee-highs. When I first purchased the yarn I thought I’d knit Spearfish in a knee high version. Then I got to thinking that the laciness might not be the warmest and that was part of my reason for wanting to knit knee-highs - warmth to go with all my skirts.

So, then I thought perhaps some sort of cabling up the sides of the foot and probably the center of the back, but then which cable? And how long will it take if I cable them?

Next, I thought since I’ve been all about traveling/twisted stitches lately. I could do a knee-high version of Balance Socks… I wouldn’t need to cart charts around that way as I have it memorized and it has such nice little details to make it look interesting without bogging you down with charts or constant twisted stitches. So, what do you think?

I need a decision by this evening for SnB or I’ll be there yet again and won’t really knit a stitch…

I voted for Balance. Now, hear my reasoning. You will knitting knee socks. I have short legs and knee socks take forever. Make it easy on yourself and you can knit on them all the time. See? Completely logical.

I voted for cables. But, they will add a bulky look even if they are sort of dainty. And bulk in the legs isn’t necessarily a good thing. Still, I think they could look great and very wintery.

I totally agree with Cindy. If you’re going to be knitting something that long then it needs to be a pattern that you can knit easily.

Okay, I voted for cables. They make knee socks look even hotter than they do already. But searching for the perfect cables to embellish the socks might take longer than you have??

Or you could just scrap the socks and make what those are really calling out to be. A bra.

hee, hee, I saw that picture and before I read any further I wondered if you were knitting a bikini for your water aerobic class. Okay I knew you weren’t but it was a funny thought.

I voted for Balance, but I would also be in favor of something with lots of knit in the back loop ribbing, to make them very stretchy.

I think spearfish will still be warm enough. Besides, I think those socks would look great with skirts!

Sorry to complicate things for you but…have you seen the socks on Grumperina’s 10/22 blog entry? http://www.grumperina.com/knitblog/
I think your yarn would be really beautiful in that pattern! Also, I think the pattern would be very easy once it is established. Just saying… :-)
