My Rotten Luck…

3/6/2006

Almost three years to the day of purchasing my latop it crashed yesterday. I suspect it is strictly a hard drive crash as I’ve had warnings for over a year of a not so happy hard drive. I actually have another hard drive here and ready to go in it. So, it is just a matter for finding a reputable company to replace it for me and to recover what data they can from the crashed drive (even though I knew the drive was not well I of course don’t run back-up daily). I’m hoping whomever I can find can get the new drive in there and give me a real quick turn-around on that end and then pop the old hard drive into one of their systems to pull data. So, I’m hoping I’m up and running again on the laptop in a few days, but we’ll have to see.

Of course I should have had this done a long time ago, specifically when I was not in the middle of teaching a term of classes. But the though of being without my laptop was like the thought of being without my right arm. So, I procratinated… *sigh*

Of course all of this is going to cost money. So, I’m running a big sale - all my knitting patterns are on sale for $4. I also have the current on-line classes and the next two classes to be offered in May on sale at a savings of $5 per class. This sale will be good through next Monday. If you’ve pondered buying any of my sock patterns or the adorable strawberry hat pattern, but haven’t done so yet, now would be a *really* great time! If you’ve thought about taking my Backgrounds, Printmaking, Collage Design, or Beginning Bookmaking courses, again, it would be a great time to sign-up! The Backgrounds and Printmaking classes are in progress, though the first weeks of the classes are pretty light on the hands-on activities to allow everyone to get accustomed to the classrooms etc. so it is pretty easy to pop in late. Those two classes will only be open through Wednesday though so their sale prices will only be good through then. Any spreading of the word of these sales would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and one more note, downloadable products are in PDF format and rather large so if you have an aggressive firewall you will likely need to disable it temporarily while you download the file. Because I am working on a machine that isn’t normally my own my ability to provide technical support on downloading will be a bit limited and I’ll need to ask your patience should you have difficulties in that department. Thank you!

Now, I will have for sure one more post this week that includes pics. I have more stuff to show off from last week’s shopping expedition, but I may not have much in the way of progress photos. We’ll have to see if I can get my digital camera talking with this computer…

EDIT: Also, the web client for my domain e-mail is not very pleasant, so if you happen to have e-mail address for me with designedlykristi.com at the end, please be sure that you use one of my gmail.com accounts until I give notice that the laptop has returned and is functioning again. Thanks!
