*sigh*
That’s the best subject line I can come up with this week. To say it has been a challenge is an understatement. There was no data recoverable on the hard drive. And, because the hard drive had bad sectors that would prevent back-ups from completing for a while I lost much more than I really want to admit. I shouldn’t have put off getting the new hard drive installed.
I’m also having troubles because the place that did the work said he got my wireless network card running too, but it seems he must have turned some feature on that prevents it from finding secure wireless connections because it should be finding three at our house and it can’t even find our home one. I’m currently at the coffee shop where we knit and it did find their wireless network, but it is an open connection…
So, I’m still kind of moving in to the new hard drive yet. I still have to set up my Sage feeds again so I can read all my regular blogs more easily and I’m slowly building back up my bookmarks and such. I’m sooo glad I had recently added the vast majority of my knitting bookmarks that aren’t on the sidebar into the links area of the SnB yahoogroup! Phew! I’m also needing to rebuilding all my e-mail addresses, but that shouldn’t be too hard as my sister will have all the family ones and DH will have the vast majority of our friends (and of those he doesn’t have, I probaly have kicking around in one of my web e-mail accounts somewhere).
I’ll be taking down the poll once I’m more settled on my lap top again. But I’ve found watching the results quite interesting. For nearly the entire first week 80-90% of the votes were to consolidate and have just one blog. Since then there are dribbling in votes for “knitting only” which it will never be as spinning will always be a part of it. It still seems to be a 2/3 majority for consolidating so I will likely be doing that in the coming months. It will probably mean a URL change. I’m thinking I might keep this one here so I don’t have to move the archives over. I think that makes the most sense as I’d rather start clean on my categories and such if I’m going have more than knitting and spinning.
Okay, once I take care of class stuff for this morning I need to go back home and fight with the wireless network some more and perhaps call up the guy that set things up and ask what the heck is going on…
