My Modified Chinese Charm Bag

3/9/2004

Here is the partially finished Chinese Charm Bag that I modified from Stitch-n-Bitch. If I bind off on the next round, it’ll curl down to the patterned stitching I suspect, though because I like narrow and deep bag, the handles will be connected to a good majority of that top of the bag so I think the pattern will show most of the way around.

This image shows the detail of the patterning. It’s really simple. I put 10 “eyelets” around the bag at the top and bottom of the pattern. Did some alternating of purl and knit rounds. Then I did a wierd sort of drop stitch where I k1 *yo k2* k1 that resulted in just a stretched out looking stockinette stitch when I dropped the yo on the next round.

Any thoughts on whether I should just bind off the next round and attach the handles on that end, or should I rip out to several rounds past the pattern and redo the pattern there???

I think I want to line it with the lavendar that shows up in the yarn… It will make it kind of springy. I’m still deciding on the style of handles I want. If I want the round bamboo, the half round bambo, or these cool wood ones that remind me of grandma purses…
