Chart Issues…

9/2/2004

I’m not sure if it is me being new to chart reading or the ajouré pattern on this chart, but I’m having a heck of a time…

I am unable to picture what slipping a decrease over 2 stitches is?? The symbol is typical of what I’ve been seeing in most lace charts as SSK, but them why wouldn’t they just say SSK? They describe SSK down in their abbreviation section but don’t mention it anywhere else.

That’s pretty much my biggest complaint… I need to sit down with the needls and some plain jane yarn and swatch this out to try figure it out. For one, I’ve never gotten the hang of this knit into the same stitch twice stuff or k1 and p1 into the yo thing. So, I’m positive I need to practice that. The idea of doing that makes sense to me, but how to actually execute it confuses the heck out of me. Then again it’s just made my head swim when I’ve thought about it and I don’t know that I’ve actually tried it. So, I suppose it is time.

I’m wanting to use this ajouré pattern in at least one project, but possible some others. I don’t want to devulge the project at this moment, but I’m itching to start it. But, I must discipline myself and keep working on converting my online classes over to the new system… And, complete some art swap commitments I’m running behind on… However, my head hurts and I’m all allergy-y so I’m not wishing to do much but veg in front of the TV with knitting. Must resist the temptation….
