My Future Project…

11/10/2005

Well, believe it or not, I did not have anywhere near the proper yarns for the mittens in Folk Mittens that I wanted to make. Yes, even handspin, Liz! Of course I have plenty of fiber, but spinning that to meet my mitten needs was just not going to do it. I am in need of instant gratification :-)

So, since I was in the general area for voice lessons I dropped into one of our LYSs. I generally try to avoid them except for sales and for fiber purchases due to their somewhat inflated prices (as in over MSRP), but the other LYS I’ve had enough crabbiness and poor service to never step in again - even if it was a huge sale. Well, perhaps if it was a going out of business sale I’d go…

So, I picked out a yummy chocolate brown and nice winter white of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. I was going in thinking I’d be coming out with some Dale, but I was not happy with any of the colors they had. I had figured on casting on after supper last night (zucchini and mushroom enchiladas with homemade enchilada sauce that is to die for). However, wouldn’t you know it? The one night I was resigned to hunkering down all alone once again DH decides he’s close enough to on track that he can take a night off?

He suggested a movie, but then we ended up running all over town getting supplies for another batch of homemade liqueur which wasn’t my kind of fun after being in the kitchen on my feet all day. So, no mittens started yet.

But, I will be working on Mittens from Halland (scroll down a little on that page to see a pair that had been worn for a week). I should have progress photos for tomorrow as DH had left for work before I got up this morning and he’ll be going to stright to a NANO write-in after and if this week is anything like last Thursday or Monday he won’t be home until 12:30am. So, today it looks to be just me, myself, and I all by ourselves with our mitten patterns…

I’m not being very good at replying to comments and I’m sorry. It’s just the more I’m alone the harder it gets to interact at all… Even through e-mail… I hope you’ll forgive me!
