My Modified Chinese Charm Bag

3/9/2004

Here is the partially finished Chinese Charm Bag that I modified from Stitch-n-Bitch. If I bind off on the next round, it’ll curl down to the patterned stitching I suspect, though because I like narrow and deep bag, the handles will be connected to a good majority of that top of the bag so I think the pattern will show most of the way around.

This image shows the detail of the patterning. It’s really simple. I put 10 “eyelets” around the bag at the top and bottom of the pattern. Did some alternating of purl and knit rounds. Then I did a wierd sort of drop stitch where I k1 *yo k2* k1 that resulted in just a stretched out looking stockinette stitch when I dropped the yo on the next round.

Any thoughts on whether I should just bind off the next round and attach the handles on that end, or should I rip out to several rounds past the pattern and redo the pattern there???

I think I want to line it with the lavendar that shows up in the yarn… It will make it kind of springy. I’m still deciding on the style of handles I want. If I want the round bamboo, the half round bambo, or these cool wood ones that remind me of grandma purses…

No Knitting Tea for me…

First, I slept until 9am and if I am to be on time and actually get a seat I need to leave the house by 9:40 at the latest… Plus, I still haven’t replied to all my Eclectic Academy classes’ messages yet and that is top priority right now. I also really need to pretty much focus on writing today and practicing for choir rehearsal tonight.

But oh, how I want to wrap up this purse project! I didn’t end up getting the pattern ripped out on Sunday night so it’s still laying about at the same amount of completion… Hmmm, wonder if I could BO on it and use that as the top…. It’s worth a thought and would mean the knitting part is basically done… Then I could go pick out the lining fabric and the handles from Jo-Ann’s…

Maybe I’ll post a pic later today and can get some input/thoughts on it…
